Since we’re still doing things remotely, straightening your smile should be something to consider while you’re at home. However, there are quite a few options to choose from. Though I may be biased since I’m on my own aligner journey, I’ve looked up some of the different choices and feel it would help to look at what they offer. Here are the different remote aligner treatment options and how they may benefit you. (Also, you should definitely check with your orthodontist to see what they recommend or what they use!)
If you’re in or travel through Northern VA, then Orthodontics By Crutchfield is the best choice for clear aligners. Since OBC Clear is 3D printed in-office, the wait time is practically nothing. Plus, they use DentalMonitoring, which is great for remotely checking the progress of your smile. Check out our pricing.
You’ve no doubt heard of Spark since they were the first in the clear aligner game. While they’ve paved the way, others have come to demonstrate some serious competition. Treatment with spark can range between 6-24 months and cost around $3,500-$7,000. You’ll need to wear them for around 20-22 hours a day, and changing occurs every 1-2 weeks. Check with your orthodontist to see if they offer this treatment remotely.
SmileDirectClub’s at-home kit gets sent to you, which is great as a remote option… but it can be disastrous on your actual dental health. Check out this news article for more on the bad press… Their plans can be much shorter, between 4-6 months for daytime wear (around 22 hours per day) and 10 months of nighttime wear (or 10 hours per night). These cost around $2,050.
While you’ll need to head in-office for these aligners, a kit will be sent to you with your aligners, and scanning can be done at home. They even offer whitening foam to place in your aligners, if straightening and whitening are a one-two punch you want to get over with! Beware, though, they only have a 2 out of 5 for customer satisfaction. Cost is around $4,000 with treatment plans of around 4-12 months.
Byte will send an at-home impression kit, with your aligner kit soon to follow. Like SmileDirectClub, Byte offers nighttime and daytime options. The nighttime treatment costs more and takes longer, however, so keep that in mind. Here’s what Forbes Health has to say about its effectiveness and the feedback from dental professionals. Daytime aligner plans begin at around $1,895 for 4-6 months.
Though there are many more than this on the market (hooray for options!), you should definitely do your research and speak with an orthodontist about what’s best for your smile. Leave these things to the pros, trust me!
